Overview

Patna is the capital of Bihar and stands on the site of ancient Pataliputra, capital of the Maurya and Gupta empires. Remains at Kumhrar and the well at Agam Kuan date back to that era.

Takht Sri Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib, marks the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh. The Golghar granary of 1786, the Patna Museum, the Bihar Museum and the Khuda Bakhsh Oriental Library are among the city's landmarks.
